Pilgrim's Tales

Nidaros Cathedral, 19 March 2010

Berit Lånke, Director at Nidaros Pilgrims' Centre and Eskil Følstad, Curator at Stiklestad National Culture Centre with another Norwegian baton for the Europa Compostela 2010 relay (EC2010), a gift from the Norwegian to the French Pilgrims. It comes with a personal Pilgrim's Certificate from Nidaros Bishop Tor Singsaas and Berit Lånke, Director at Nidaros Pilgrims' Centre.

This baton will not follow Norwegian pilgrim paths, but will be handed over to the French pilgrims as a token of friendship during the opening ceremony of the EC 2010 in Strasbourg 28 April. French participants will bring it to Paris and carry it along the Tours route, all the way to Santiago de Compostela.

The original Norwegian EC2010 baton has - as our followers know - been out walking, skiing and cycling since 26 February. It is currently on its way from Oslo towards Larvik (please see our other blog). This baton (which is different from the above mentioned gift) will continue on its way as planned - through Norway, Denmark, Germany and France - eventually to be carried by EC2010 partcipants along the Le Puy route to Santiago de Compostela.
